Now What?

Now What?

Well, hello again, I know it has been a while since my last post and I apologize for that. As all of you know things have been crazy lately and I have been very busy trying to keep up with the changes that have been happening.

In my last post I talked about the main change that most athletes in the country are going through, the cancellation of college and professional sports. With that happening, many of us have to now find new ways to stay active and stay in shape during this quarantine. I also know that all gyms have closed (at least in New York) so that makes it very hard to find ways to do this.

Since my season has been cancelled and that is what the subject of this blog was, I now have to find new topics to write about that have to do with athletes and sports. I am going to talk about ways to stay active during this quarantine, I will talk about things that I do and further down the line I will get input from my teammates to see what they are doing to maintain athletic form.

I have found so far that it is really easy to fall into lazy patterns. Whether it is staying up all night and then waking up in the afternoon or spending all day on video games and Netflix, it is hard to self-motivate when we have just been stripped of our season but we must find ways to push ourselves to get better.

With gyms being closed I can see how it can be hard to workout but there are plenty of body weight workouts to be done that you do not need weights for. Luckily, we have a great strength and condition staff at Stevenson who has given the athletes workouts that can be done in the house. Exercises like pushups, squats, and crunches can all be done in your bedroom.

I feel that it is very important to take this time and improve on things in your life. For me being an athlete I have to be able to stay in shape because as my coach says, "We will be baseball players again."- Coach Gage
